This place was recommended to us as an authentic roman restaurant serving good food.  When I repeated this to the owner, he laughed and told me that typical Roman food was stomach, intestines, spleen, etc. And he did not like it very much.

We started with the fried food.  Cod, vegetables, pumpkin flowers with anchovies and mozerrella.  Everything was perfectly fried and delicious.  Next, we had the pasta.  Spaggetti Carbonarra and spaghetti with cheese and pepper.  We enjoyed both of them.  Next, steak with parmigiano, baccalau, and more fried cod.  Finally, we couldn't resist desert.  We had all of them.  The waiter even treated us to one that we had forgotten.

We also had the house wine and grappa.  Both were enjoyable.

As far as I could tell, we were the only tourists present.  Everyone was speaking in Italian.  It was a lively atmosphere with families and older couples.  The staff was friendly and attentive.  They treated us to desert and grappa.

Not super fancy, but really a typical restaurant.  Recommended.

This place was recommended by our bnb host. It was just downstairs, so great for a quick late night (well for us) bite. We had the fried cheese and vegetables and split a cappriccessa (something similar) pizza. The pizza was a very interesting mix; ham, mushrooms, peas, olives, eggs, articles, tomatoes and mozzarella. The food was fine. I enjoyed it enough, but I wouldn't go back or recommend it. Service was fine, we were gets promptly by a nice offer gentleman and our server was nice and easy going.

We had a very enjoyable dinner at Berninetta. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome and they provided English menus for us. Several of the waiters spoke excellent English and were very helpful describing the items.

The food was outstanding and reasonably priced. Compared to what you would pay in the US at an Olive Garden, the meal was less money, even considering the exchange rate. Starter, pasta course, and bottle of wine was €49 for two people.

I recommend making a reservation on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. They were turning people away the second time we ate there (Sunday) but we got there early enough to get a table. I think we were the only tourists there both nights.

    I highly recommend them.
